is owned and operated by Brian Saylor. I have lived in the Raleigh area since 1967 and graduated from the “old” Cardinal Gibbons High School. I graduated from UNC-CH in 1983 with a BS undergraduate degree, and then received a master’s degree from NCSU in 1992. So you could say I always win when these two rival schools play.
I have been doing remodeling, home repairs and construction, although not as my principle occupation, since I was 10 years old helping my Dad finish our basement. Lots of kitchens, bathrooms and exterior repairs later and too many decks to remember, I decided to build a house up at Lake Gaston. In this project I designed, built and acted as the general contractor. I only used subcontractors for the grading, foundation, and the well and septic, as these required heavy machinery. I learned about specific codes and requirements and to put all of my past knowledge, as well as a lot of new knowledge, to the test. I passed all of my building inspections and 20 years later, it’s still standing.
For my second career I decided to do something that I enjoyed. Checking out houses is something I have often been called upon to do by friends and family, and now I have the privilege to do it professionally.
